Car Window Poetry Night - with special slam poetry guest Meta Sarmiento

Check out Meta Sarmiento as he comes through Colorado on tour. In addition, Car Window Poetry will help us create using the power of words! $5 cover at the door to the artists.

 

Meta Sarmiento is a Filipino poet and rapper from Guam and currently lives in Denver, CO. He uses his work to redefine masculinity, explore cultural identity, and navigate generational borders. Meta is an honorable mention for the Loft Spoken Word Immersion Fellowship 2018, a 2017 National Poetry Slam semifinalist with Slam Nuba, and a TEDx speaker. He is also a winner of Spoken Word for the World 2015 where he was flown to Paris to perform environmental poetry during the United Nations' Climate Negotiations. Meta's latest collection of poems, Tie Your Shoes Kid, explores the journey from childhood to the doorstep of adulthood. His book weaves together themes of family, self-discovery, heartache, and hope.

 

Led by Alex Lewis, Car Window Poetry is a global poetry movement of people writing encouraging poems and anonymously sharing them on car windows. Featured on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt and HLN's MichaeLA, Car Window Poetry believes words matter, that small acts of love can make a big difference in the lives of those around us.
